{My Parties} Memorial Day Shrimp Boil for Friends

What do you get when you combine a bunch of miscellaneous leftover party stuff and a husband who loves to do shrimp boils? A Memorial Day party!
This party decor cost me $0.
I had all this stuff lying around my house. Does that make me a pack rat or just resourceful?
With a little help from the lovely Piggy Bank Parties, we had ourselves a party!

Since this was a shrimp boil, and if you've ever been to one of those, pretty much everything is just dumped onto the table and you pick out what you want, I didn't need to do a large table setting of any kind. So, I used my own furniture for a small appetizer and dessert display in our kitchen.

The gingham fabric is leftover from the Bun in the Oven Shower, the paper fans and striped fabric is leftover from the Ole Miss graduation party, and the Coke crate is leftover from the Hamburger party!
That coke crate has been one of the best things I have ever bought! It comes in handy all. the. time.

The adorable printables are from the amazing Piggy Bank Parties! Aren't they cute?
Best part--100% free! Thanks Do!
The cupcakes were Bomb Pop Cupcakes, and I am sure most of you saw that recipe floating around the blogs last week. But, if not, you can get it here.  They were delicious, except they turned your entire mouth blue. I think I might have gone overboard with the blue gel coloring.

This dip was amazing! If I am ever in need of a new recipe for an event, I always visit TastyKitchen.com, Pioneer Woman's recipe site. It is full of great, new recipes!
Leftover mason jars from the Bun in the Oven shower. All I did was change the ribbon to this patriotic ribbon I had leftover from last year's Memorial Day party.
Hubs doing ALL the work!
I used the red baskets that I had to serve hamburgers in at the Hamburger party, and lined them with gingham handkerchiefs that I had from the Bun in the Oven shower. It worked perfectly for serving pieces!
If anyone would like some of this, please come over and get the 3 Tupperware containers that I have left in my fridge.
Happy Memorial Day!

Inspiration Board: Pink and Yellow Cupcake 1st Birthday

A few weeks ago, a friend Brooke, emailed me about doing a party for her daughter's 1st birthday. Little Reagan will be one just about the time that I am expected to have my baby, so unfortunately, I couldn't physically help her with her party. Bummer.
But, I told Brooke that I would be thrilled to help her with some ideas for the party!
She knew that she wanted a pink and yellow cupcake party, so once I had that information, I was ready to roll on a custom Party Plan for her! (More information coming soon on those!)

I love this color combination because it is SO sweet for a precious little baby girl's 1st birthday.
It always conjures up pink lemonade in my head, so I went with that for inspiration. And, I happened to find some pink lemonade cupcakes! And also found out that two local bakeries offer pink lemonade cupcakes!

If you'd like to see more inspiration for my Pink and Yellow Cupcake Party, you can visit my Pinterest Board here.

Thanks so much Brooke! I really loved doing this for you!
Brooke has already started on the party decor and she's sent me some adorable pictures of the cupcake liner garland that she's working on! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

{My Parties} Ole Miss Themed Dessert Table

Last weekend, I took on my last party for a while. At least until after August. Being 8 months pregnant, it's just too exhausting to try to do the physical labor (pardon the pun) that goes into putting parties together!
For this party, I helped out a friend, Karen. Karen is a local caterer who owns Simply Done Catering and Cupcakes. I have worked with her on several parties now and she needed a little extra help with the decor on this graduation party, so I told her that I would LOVE to help!
The graduating senior and her mother had a very specific color scheme in mind--sunshine yellow, kelly green, hot pink, black and white damask, AND an Ole Miss themed sweets table. Hillary, the graduate, will be attending Ole Miss in the fall.

Karen provided the cupcakes, the brownie bites, and the cookies. The client provided the favors, which were a little metal shopping cart with colored M&Ms, and I did the rest of the sweets table design.

I found some really cute Ole Miss printables on Etsy, by Allison Powell Designs.
For those of you who aren't from the South, that banner says "Hotty Toddy." That is the name of Ole Miss' Fight Song. It doesn't make much sense to me either.

I found the Ole Miss logo fabric at Hancock and then I used a red, white, and blue striped fabric around it. It's the perfect time to do this theme, with Memorial Day and July 4th coming up. I had no problem finding red, white, and blue accessories. The paper fans are from Factory Card and Party Outlet. I plan on using them again in a couple of weeks for Memorial Day!
Keeping the theme colors, I bought Twizzlers, Cherry Sours, Three Musketeers, and Nestle Crunch Bars to add to the buffet. Toss in a few Ole Miss pom-poms and you've got yourself a really cute display!
Aren't these cookies gorgeous?
For the brownie bites, I took one of Karen's platters and put it on top of an Ole Miss bucket that she brought, to give the buffet some height.
The printables were so cute, and looked wonderful on the delicious cupcakes from Karen!

A close up of the shopping cart favors that the graduate's mother brought. I am not sure what the significance is there, but they were cute.

The rest of the party had a damask theme with hot, spring colors.
And Karen found some fabulous plates that matched the theme colors at Walmart of all places! She used them as chargers underneath the clear plates on the tables. It really brought a punch of color to the tabletops and it was really cute!
Karen rented all these linens from Affordable Party Rentals.
She needed my help with buffet centerpieces and finishing touches.
I found these adorable little graduation boxes at Factory Card and Party Outlet and covered the ugly "princess grad" print on them with damask wrapping paper. I loved the way they turned out.
Here is the before picture--YUCK.

For the buffet centerpieces, I used my black sanga vases and threaded paper lanterns around them. To disguise the space between the lanterns, I collapsed more lanterns in between. I liked the look that it gave!
Coming out the tops were arrangements of green, black, pink, and white feathers and feathered balls.
I painted chipboard letters from Hobby Lobby to use in the center of the table, spelling out the graduate's name.
To bring in the damask, I wrapped one of the lanterns in damask ribbon.
I also brought some damask fabric I had leftover from the Hot Pink Glamorous Casino Party.

Doesn't this mashed potato bar look yummy?
Happy Graduation Hillary! Have fun at Ole Miss!

{Real Parties} Minnie Mouse Bake Shop

I love when I run across a party that has such thoughtful attention to detail. When I saw this Minnie Mouse Bake Shop Party on Catch My Party, I was blown away by the time, energy, and love put into it.
Mikie threw this Minnie Mouse party for her daughter's 4th birthday and I think it is JUST precious! What a fun spin on a Disney theme!
How great is this dessert stand?  Everything was "minnie-sized." Get it?
What little one wouldn't love a chocolate fountain at their party?
I love the way she used the paper fans and bunting to draw attention up to her ceiling.
Each portion of the bake shop had its own dessert labels!
 CLEVER!  Minnie Mouse cupcakes!
Cupcake liner garland is such a cute touch that I am seeing pop up all over the place lately and it fits in perfectly with the theme here!
How sweet is it to have custom costumes for the guests? I love this!
In my opinion, this is just a stroke of pure genius.
But, my favorite part had to be the invitations, which are just so ridiculously cute, that I can hardly stand it. Recipe cards!
 These are some happy girls!
Thanks to Mikie for letting me share this adorable birthday party!
