{My Parties} Yellow and Grey Bundle of Joy Baby Shower

Yellow and Grey is a really hot color combination lately in the event sphere. This is a great color scheme for a gender neutral baby shower. On this particular party, we knew that the baby was a boy, and coincidentally, his name was going to be Grayson!
My longtime clients, Leanne and Deanna, knew that they wanted a yellow and grey color palette with a touch of giraffes. They also wanted to do a mesh wreath, and definitely wanted chevron incorporated. With this in mind, it gave me a really clear direction on what they wanted the shower to look like.
I started by making this mesh wreath with supplies from +Hobby Lobby. They carry mesh of all colors and I simply added some scrapbook embellishments and painted a little wooden giraffe to transform him from primary colors to silver!
I also found this fabric for the backdrop and the table runner at Hobby Lobby. I was immediately in love with it!  I knew I wanted to do a really big fabric garland for the backdrop, to make it soft and sweet.
Candace at LillyPaul Designs absolutely blew me away with how gorgeous this fabric garland was! She used soft patterns of geometrics, which matched beautifully with my fabrics. I couldn't believe how perfect it turned out! She has listed it in her store!

If you look closely, you can see that this party is pattern-overload. But, none of the patterns are overtly loud, and they are all in the same color palette, which makes it all "work" together.

I knew that Lindi at +Love The Day was the perfect person to work with on the printable designs for this party. I love her style, which is really clean and modern. It always brings a nice touch to any event.
She designed this beautiful package for me and it was so big, I barely used half of it! So many fabulous pieces! It's all based around a "Bundle of Joy" theme.

I made this cupcake stand out of hatboxes, covered with paint and scrapbook paper. I added scrapbook embelishments and some of Lindi's printable designs to make it really pop.

I always love working with Janet at Sweet Temptations! She made me these beautiful chocolate covered Oreos. These were a special request from the client's husband, who loved them at a previous party we did together. We had to set one aside for him!
These beautiful chevron ombre plates and napkins are from +Birthday Express . They have these in a ton of different colors and they were perfect for this event!
This shower had some delicious foods! BLT Bites, Spinach Dip, Mini Ham Sandwiches,  Shrimp Crostini, Chicken Salad Croissants, Pasta Salad, and a Fruit Display. Yum!

Another request of the hostesses was to do diaper cakes. We did two 6 feet long tables for guests, covered with buttery linens and then I made these diaper cakes for the centerpieces. I used Lindi's printables to add some detail to the cakes.
The hostesses also had a great idea to buy a pack and play for their gift, and then use it for a place to bring gifts. I made this banner for it with the leftover diapers from the diaper cakes.

The hostess' mom made this gorgeous watermelon baby carriage.
Here is a close-up. Beautiful, right??

On the entry table, we displayed the favors, which were cookies from Whimsy Cookie Company.

I had the girls at Whimsy bag the cookies and then I added the treat bag toppers by Love the Day.
Aren't these cookies just gorgeous? I love using Whimsy, because the cookies are just delicious. I could eat three by myself.

Happy Spring, hope this inspires your next Springtime baby shower!

  4. I Love everything about this table decor/set-up. Beautiful work :) I would like to do a hat box cupcake holder for my daughter's baby shower. What can be used in between the boxes to elevate enough to put cupcakes between boxes? By the way, I am from Memphis but live in Virginia now :)

    1. Thanks! I actually used some clear glass vases that are short, like 6 inches tall. I have also used the smaller versions of the hat boxes (even the square ones) before. You could even use soup cans wrapped in paper!

  6. Very beautiful.I would like to know how many yards of the backdrop fabric do we need to match the garland.
