When I was a little girl, one thing my grandmother made fudge constantly for our family. She ALWAYS kept Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips and Carnation evaporated milk in her pantry. Always.
As an adult, I find myself keeping those same items in my pantry, just in case I want to make a quick and easy treat for my family or any baking recipe that may come to mind.
And, what treat is easier than fudge? Any novice can do it! You don't need to spend several hours in the kitchen for this recipe. It comes together in just a few minutes.

Since Thanksgiving is coming up in just a few weeks, I have been thinking about what I can do to show the people in our lives how much we appreciate all the things they do for us, and how thankful we are for them. So, I decided to make fudge for three special people in particular.
My oldest son is special needs and he rides the school bus to and from school every day. He LOVES the bus and practically runs to it every day. His bus driver is so sweet and so is the wonderful assistant on the bus who helps him up the stairs and into his seat.  He also has a nurse who rides with him too.
I honestly don't know what we would do without those kind people who help him every day.

So, while I was at Wal-Mart last week, I decided to pick up some ingredients for fudge to let them know how thankful we are for them!
It's pretty convenient that the Carnation and the Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips are right there beside each other, isn't it?

So here's what you need for my Nana's famous fudge. I added some candy bars to the top. Look at me, helping you get rid of the extra Halloween candy lying around your house!

Thankful Candy Bar Fudge Gifts

Ingredients:

3 cups white sugar
3/4 cup butter
2/3 cup Carnation evaporated milk
1 (12oz) package Nestle Tollhouse semi sweet chocolate chips
1 (7oz) jar marshmallow cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Crushed Candy Bars for topping (I used KitKats).

1. Grease a 9x13. I used a disposable aluminum steamtable pan. It's easier to remove the fudge and the clean-up is a breeze!
2. Mix sugar, butter, an Carnation evaporated milk in a large, heavy saucepan over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Bring mixture to a full boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
3. Remove from heart and stir in chocolate chips until melted and combined. Stir in the marshmallow cream and vanilla. Transfer fudge to the pan.
4. While the fudge is still very warm, chop up your favorite candy bar and add to the top. Push the pieces down into the warm fudge a little bit to help them sink in.
5. Let cool and cut into squares. I put mine in the fridge sometimes to speed up the process.

To package them, I found these super cute little plastic water glasses on clearance at a craft store. I simply cut the fudge into squares and added them to the glasses.

Then, I wrapped each one in clear cellophane and added some cute ribbon.
