{My Parties} Dueling Tailgate Graduation Party

I was so busy this year with graduation parties!
This one was so fun for me to dream up!
This party is for a set of gorgeous twins who graduated from high school this year. Their mom is one of my favorite clients, so I was so excited to help her celebrate her twins and this big transition in all their lives.
The twins are headed to two different colleges this fall and I love that!
One of headed to College of Charleston (jealous!) and the other is headed to The University of Tennessee. So, in order to highlight their choices of colleges, we decided to do a "Dueling Tailgate" celebration for them.
This party has a lot of inspiration for those upcoming football parties this fall!
We kept it elegant, since it was a brunch for family members, and added a lot of fun collegiate touches.

I set up two 8 foot long tables on each side of their beautiful fireplace. One was designated as Elizabeth's College of Charleston table and the other was Grayson's University of Tennessee table!
In the middle of the tables, I installed these oversized gold 2016 balloons to give height to the area.

For our UT table, I used a simple white tablecloth. I added a licensed vinyl decal onto the front to bring in the UT logo. To dress up the front of the table, my friend Candace at LillyPaul Designs made this gorgeous fabric banner for the front of the table, I love these because the girls can use them in their dorm rooms after the party.

Each table had a custom confetti balloon from One Stylish Party to coordinate with the college colors.

My friends at Simply Delicious Catering created a delicious spread of Tennessee and football inspired food for Grayson's table.

Among the menu items were a snack dip stadium...

A hanging pretzel display...
...Curried Chicken Salad, Football Deviled Eggs, and fried mac and cheese! YUM!

I decorated the tabletops with these collegiate scarves and yard flags.

On Grayson's College of Charleston table, we did the same treatment on the front with the fabric banner, vinyl decal, and custom confetti balloon. Except in this area I added them onto this beautiful gold linen (which I repeated in the guest seating area).

For the College of Charleston cuisine, Simply Delicious focused on Low Country menu items like this Biscuit Bar (double yum!) and boiled peanuts. I made this custom chalkboard for the event. I even added a South Carolina palmetto because I'm a sucker for details.

Seriously, those biscuits look so delicious right now. They are my favorite thing!

For our beverage station, I did a very simple table decor. I used a white linen and then I pinned the pennants from each of the colleges to the front of the table. Simple, but big impact!

On the opposite side of the room, we did a sweets station, also in a dueling format. I customized these cute collegiate style letters from Michael's with washi tape.

And because I love details, I designed these napkins on and had them customized for each of the girls.

Each table had a customized sweet by Nicole at Bella's Bakery and Bowtique. Grayson picked chocolate covered oreos and Elizabeth chose cake pops!

I have to say, working with these two colors was not the easiest from a design standpoint. Orange and Burgundy aren't two colors that most people would combine. So, I figured that the way to make it work was to use neutrals for the linens and the chairs, so that there would be a neutral palette to bounce the colors off of. I wanted the centerpieces to alternate in color, instead of trying to combine the colors in one centerpiece. Paula Peyton, my floral designer for this event, really got it and designed the most beautiful centerpieces for the guest tables!

For the linens, I mixed in a solid gold linen with these GORGEOUS silver and gold Bishop's Treasure linens from White Door Events. They are one of my very favorite linens!

Happy Graduation Grayson and Elizabeth!!!
