{My Parties} Queen of Hearts UnBirthday Party

Are you planning any parties for Valentine's Day?
How about an Alice in Wonderland inspired Queen of Hearts theme? This theme is actually perfect year round! I love the idea of celebrating a birthday for the queen of your heart!
I styled this party for

My favorite scene in Alice in Wonderland is when they visit the Queen of Hearts. I love the big, sculptured boxwoods. So, to call to mind that scene, I used green floral sheeting to create a backdrop that resembled the boxwoods.
On top of that, I made a heart of out playing cards. This is such an easy project. All it takes is hot glue, a deck of cards, and a piece of cardboard.
On either side of the table, I used these oversized flamingo standees.
The casino themed tablecloth goes perfectly with this theme!

Every birthday needs a cake. I took a simple, store-bought white cake and added red roses and playing cards to the top Such an easy way to dress it up!
I surrounded the cake with this plastic crown from Shindigz to give it a queenly look.

On the lower level of the cake stand, I served some of my favorite cocktails, Dirty Shirleys.
Such an easy drink for any adult party. It's simply a Shirley Temple with Vodka!

For our cupcakes, I bought these strawberry shortcake ones from the grocery store and topped them with these cute playing card toppers and wrapped them in black and white striped wrappers.

Since the queen of hearts has her roses painted red, I displayed these cute rose topiaries on cake stands. These were white and I painted them red!
For my "paintbrushes" I bought pre-made rice krispie treats with wooden sticks and dipped them into red candy melts.

Chocolate covered strawberries are an essential Valentine's Day treat too! I displayed mine in these cute buckets and added harlequin paper straws to make them look like flowers.

My friend Katherine at Creating Awesomenessity whipped up these beautiful playing card cookies for me. I displayed them on a bed of Valentine's candy.

To further incorporate the roses theme, I added more of the red floral sheeting on the top of the table, for a "bed of roses."

And since I love how my friends at Shindigz can personalize pretty much anything, what's more perfect for a Queen of Hearts party than these decks of playing cards??

I love a favor you can keep and decks of cards are always a great idea for guests to take home!
