Aloha High School Luau Themed Graduation Party

Post contains affilate links

I am so excited to share this fun event with you! This party debuted last year on the blog but I am just now sharing it here!

When my longtime client came to me with the idea of doing a beach themed party for her twin girls and their friends to celebrate their graduation from high school, my wheels really started turning about how to make a beach theme really fun for a group of graduating senior girls!  I decided on the theme of “Aloha High School!” I knew I could make a Hawaiian luau extra cute for them!

I started by contacting Erica at Harper Gray and she created the perfect Aloha themed invitations for our graduating ladies.
Pineapples, flamingos, and palm tree parties are all the rage right now for summer parties. I knew the girls would love this girly take on a beach party. I began with a fun color palette of hot pink, orange, yellow, green, and electric blue. I knew I wanted to welcome the guests in a really fun way, being that this event was being held in a backyard. It always helps to give your guests a guidepost of which direction they are supposed to enter. When my client saw a Beach Ball arch on Pinterest, she asked me if I could accomplish that, and of course I said yes!! To accomplish that, I attached dozens of brightly colored beach balls from Oriental Trading to a big pipe and drape. It made the perfect first impression for the party!

Outside the gate, we had two of Memphis’ finest food trucks, Say Cheese and MemPops supplying the kids with 6 flavors of grilled cheese sandwiches and 10 flavors of popsicles. I love a fun food idea for a party and I knew the kids would love these two awesome trucks being right there for the party!

On my main dessert table, I used these two AMAZING Tropical Glitter Trees! I think I fell in love with them! Each one is 7 feet tall and they made the perfect bookends to my table! They break down for easy storage and I am already planning on another event where I can use them!  In between the trees, I strung a cute banner of pink balloons that say “ALOHA” to high school. I surrounded the table with pink, yellow, and green honeycomb balls and tucked plastic yard flamingos in between. The table had a pink and orange polka dot overlay on top of a pink linen. I have been crushing on this particular linen for a while and I am so glad I got to use it!

For the sweets table, I did a display of different candies and snacks like goldfish, sour patch kids, gummy flip flops, runts, dried pineapple, and my favorite; these cute yellow gumballs and sour straws displayed in these pedestal candy jars. My idea was that they would resemble pineapples! For extra table fluff, I scattered these tropical leaves around the table.

On the favor table, or “sun station” I used a green version of the polka dot linen and added these giant pineapple honeycombs to each side. Then, I cut a banner on glittered cardstock to add to the front of the table. The kids got to take home Tropical Sunset leis, sunglasses, and towels for their favors. And, I also added a few water guns and some sunscreen for them. This table was ransacked by the end of the event!

I also had these beach balls personalized with all the graduating girls' names. I love this idea for the girls to take home as keepsake of the event!

Around the yard, I scattered some fun seating areas for the kids to relax. I also did a lounge area with a white sofa, and a few white ottomans with fun Hawaiian themed pillows. The kids were also treated to two huge inflatable waterslides and a dunk tank. As you can imagine, they had a blast with those!
The kids had a blast and now they are saying “ALOHA” to summer!
