How to make a sports logo doughnut wall with Grey Grey Designs

Join us tomorrow for our finale projects!

Welcome new readers!
Today I am going to show you exactly how to create this fun sports logo donut wall!

Donut Walls are all the rage right now aren't they? Especially at weddings! I recently worked with an amazing bride and groom who are huge University of Memphis Tigers fans (me too!) and they wanted a fun way to display the groom's cake at their wedding.
The groom is a fireman, who lives, eats, and breathes Memphis, so we incorporated several fun homages to our hometown in their gorgeous wedding.
Alton Brown will tell you that Gibson's Donuts in Memphis are the best donuts in THE WORLD. So we had to have those! And they were kind enough to offer a discount to this first responder!
I made this adorable groom his very own University of Memphis donut wall!
And now I am going to show YOU how to do it!

Here is what you need to make your own:

1 piece 8x8 pegboard, cut into two 4x4 pieces (for easy travel)
2" pegboard hooks (I used around 60).
4 Zip Ties
Your choice of paint colors (sample sizes worked great!)
Frog Tape or any painter's tape.
Donuts!

I bought my pegboard at Lowe's. I had them cut it into two pieces in the store. Unless you have a very large vehicle and you can get it home, you need to cut it to travel with it.

In order to put it back together, just use a few zip ties through the existing holes.

Pegboard is one of my favorite items to use as a backdrop because it has a built-in grid to design with!
I used Frog Tape to lay out my design of a big University of Memphis "M."

Once I had my design laid out, it was time to paint. I painted mine with paint samples from Lowe's that I matched to the logo colors. It will likely take several coats to cover the white background.

In order to hang the donuts, all you need is a 2" peg board hook. They are sold in multi-packs so they are easy to pick up at your local home store.
If you are going to use it more than once, I would definitely use a sealer on top of the paint to make sure that the hooks don't scratch it. I used around 60 hooks for this big M.
We had to have Tiger Blue donuts for our wall!

When you are ready to serve, put your donuts on the board no more than 1 hour before your guests arrive.

How easy is that?
You can make it in any size or shape or color and I guarantee that it will be the hit of your party!
Don't forget to check out all the other fun donut projects on the hop!
