Every parent knows that “Time Flies” is such an accurate description of how quickly your kids grow up, right? `That is certainly true for me. My oldest son turned 9 years old last year (I'm catching uyp on my blogging!) and in my mind he’s still a baby. He may be nine, but because he has special needs, he is still discovering some of the things that little boys like at younger ages. Right now, he loves airplanes. I should say that he is obsessed with airplanes. Riding in actual airplanes is probably his favorite thing to do.

So, last year, his birthday theme was a no-brainer. It had to be an airplane theme! When I saw this Time Flies collection, I knew he would love it! The classic red and blue color palette combined with an air-mail and travel design influence make it the perfect airplane party theme for any child that is obsessed with airplanes!

If you follow me, you know I love a big wow moment for my guests. This Time Flies personalized photo background is the perfect backdrop for your party table. You can personalize it to say anything you want! I added a simple “Happy Birthday Greyson.” It’s amazing on its own, but I thought it would be so fun to add some “clouds” in the form of a balloon installation. I used 100 white ones to create this look. It’s so easy! All you need is balloon tape and white balloons! I also use an electric balloon pump, but you can use a hand pump too! Simply tape the balloons right onto the backdrop.

To coordinate with the theme, use a red tablecloth and top it with this blue and white navy striped cloth. On the front of the table, this fun Time Flies Airplane garland makes the perfect addition. Each plane is reversible with a different pattern on each. On the tabletop, create the illusion of your treats floating in the clouds with Polyester Fiberfill. I simply balled it up to mimic clouds and piled it around my serving pieces.

I kept the treats simple and I can show you how to elevate your store bought food items too! My cake was a simple red velvet cake from a local bakery. I added some mini marshmallows to the top to look like clouds and these Time Flies Personalized Centerpiece Sticks made the perfect toppers! My favorite cookie designer, SemiSweet Confections made these beautiful cookies to match the theme. Aren’t the airplane ones amazing?? I made these airplane rice krispie treats with a simple airplane shaped cookie cutter. You can make these at home in a snap! It’s so easy! You can even use store-bought rice krispie treats. Once you have them cut out, you just dip them in candy melts and let them dry!  Send your guests home with these fun airplane gliders!

For my guest tables, I started with a simple red tablecloth and added a personalized table top it with my son’s picture. Seeing his face blown up on the table is so cute! I used some of my own place mats and added these fun personalized plates and both red and blue flatware, along with the Time Flies personalized cups. I love these personalized centerpieces. Instead of filling them with flowers, I filled mine with “clouds” and put more of the centerpiece sticks inside them.

My airplane loving guy was SO happy with his party and time really is flying!

  1. We had a lot of last minute decorations to add, and the staff was eager and willing to help. The food was amazing. These event halls for rent have extremely unique and tasty food. Also this place has great views and beautiful big rooms.
