Menaal's Harry Potter Party

Harry Potter is a theme I have done THREE times in the past few years and it doesn't look like it will be losing any steam anytime soon!
Kids of all ages love those books and movies and it's going to be as classic as princess or train themes for birthdays.
This time, I got to really have a blast creating this party for sweet little Menaal.
She was turning 10 and wanted to celebrate with her friends with a Hogwarts themed party.

My friend Karen at Simply Done Catering has the perfect venue for a Harry Potter party. This old church on our town square gives off serious Hogwarts vibes with the stained glass windows, cloud ceiling, and old raised pulpit area.

To welcome the girls to Hogwarts, I created these school pennants to hang on the outside of the venue door. Some heat press vinyl and felt pennants from Hobby Lobby and voila!

To keep it magical, I hung a Platform 9 3/4 shower curtain over the entrance to the main space. I slit it up halfway up the middle so that the girls could walk "though" the brick wall.

Karen found these Hogwarts house flags at Goodwill for FIVE DOLLARS!! The perfect snag!

If you're going to Hogwarts, you need a robe, so I ordered these from a Halloween costume store and then used heat press vinyl to personalize them for the girls.

Each girl was "sorted" with the sorting hat. I just printed and cut some Hogwarts house shields and then mixed them all up in the hat and the girls drew their houses. This also served as teams for the girls for the games.

In the main room, I did one very long table a la Hogwarts with the birthday girl at the head.

I hung floating candles from the light fixtures with fishing line to create the illusion of them floating. And I used the rest in candelabras on the centerpieces.

For the dessert table, I created stained glass backdrop using cellophane sheets.

Using props is always a good idea, and I love using luggage for Harry Potter parties!

Every good HP party has to have a Hedwig. I found this one on Amazon and then put him in a cage from Michaels.

Sugaroo Sweets killed these house shield cookies again for me! I love that she airbrushed them to make them look aged.

Chocolate frogs are a must!

We did cupcakes AND cake for the birthday girl and her friends. Smallcakes made all the cupcakes and they were topped with INCREDIBLE fondant toppers from Sprinkle Me Silly.

For Menaal's cake, Smallcakes made this adorable cake inspired by Harry's scarf.

I added the topper that I made with my Cricut.

Bertie Bott's Jellybeans for the favors.

The girls had favor bags in each of the Hogwarts robe and tie colors.

We had multiple activities including Harry Potter Headbandz, Make your own potion (slime), make your own wand, and a scavenger hunt around our town square.

The slime kit is from Amazon and it's great! The girls LOVED it.

The make your own wand kit is also from Amazon. It requires some prep, but it's absolutely worth it!

Karen really killed it on the food. She even served it in abundance on beautiful silver trays, just like Hogwarts. She had several themed brunch items such as:

Donut Hole Snitches

 String Cheese brooms

Fruit Wands

And these AMAZING butterbeer pancakes! They were seriously one of the best things I have ever had.

Happy 10th birthday Menaal!! Your party was magic!
